About the Authors
Gottfried Vossen is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster) in Germany, where he has held the chair for databases and information systems since 1993. He completed his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of RWTH Aachen University in 1986, and obtained his Habilitation and venia legendi in Computer Science at the same institution in 1990. His academic career has taken him to numerous prestigious institutions as a visiting professor, including the University of California San Diego, Karlstad University in Sweden, Marmara University in Istanbul, the Hasso Plattner Institute for Software Systems Engineering in Potsdam, and the University of Waikato in New Zealand, where he was an honorary professor until 2021. Since January 2004, he has also served as Director of the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) in Münster, and as European Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier's Information Systems — An International Journal.
Professor Vossen's research interests span databases and information systems, data science, process modeling, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. He is the author or co-author of well over 300 academic publications and more than 25 books, covering topics from database languages and XML to web technologies, e-commerce, and computer architecture.
